Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, has suggested that Nemanja Matic would not have left the club, if it was down to him alone.
The Italian said it is for the board to explain why the Serbian midfielder, was allowed to join Manchester United.
Matic has signed a three-year deal at Old Trafford, having been surprisingly allowed to strengthen a direct rival.
Asked why the 29-year-old was allowed to make the move instead of being sold elsewhere, Conte said abruptly: “You have to ask the club about this.”
Chelsea have always maintained that the final decisions on player transfers are down to the manager.
